Let’s Listen to Linda
I am a dedicated logistics employee who was going along my route when I stopped at the Great Neck patient service center. It was 1 p.m. – a time when the PSC generally closes. Nancy Volcy was training a newer phlebotomist, Yolanda Pierre. As Nancy was locking the doors for the day, she noticed a patient sitting in the car with her daughter. The mother was in a neck brace and the daughter was the patient. Although the hours of operation had closed and they were locking up, Nancy decided to re-open the PSC in order to accommodate the one last patient she spotted in the car.
Nancy asked me if she would mind waiting for this patient’s draw being that she didn’t want to set her back in her route. I did not hesitate and together – both Nancy, Yolanda and myself – were able to provide an amazing patient and customer experience!
I have been with our logistics department since 2007. Having been a route service rep for many years, I was proudly promoted to clerk for logistics last September.
Nancy has been a phlebotomist with the Core Lab since 2008. In October 2015, Nancy was promoted to lead phlebotomist.
